Writing Contests for CHILDREN/TEENS/COLLEGE UNDERGRADS
- Young Virginia Writers' Club Golden Nib Writing Contest -- THIS IS A FREE CONTEST
CONTEST INFORMATION
- All entries must be mailed with a completed CONTEST ENTRY FORM. If a student is entering
more than one category, only one entry form is required.
- The VWC is not responsible for contest submissions delivered late or lost in the mail.
- Only unpublished manuscripts will be accepted. Manuscripts must not have won first place in any
other writing contest.
- Submissions not in accordance with format and other rules will be disqualified.
- The Virginia Writers Club reserves the right to post a list of winners on our website and to post winning
entries for a period of up to one year. After the contest, all rights revert to the author.
DIVISIONS & CATEGORIES Limit (1) entry per category in appropriate division.
- MIDDLE SCHOOL: Poetry, Fiction, Nonfiction
- HIGH SCHOOL: Poetry, Fiction, Nonfiction
LENGTH
- Poetry has a 40-line limit.
- Fiction and Nonfiction has a 1,500 word limit.
SUBMISSION: Entries must be received by SEPTEMBER 1, 2010 deadline (no exceptions).

Chance for youth through age 18 to showcase poems and win a prize in this FREE writing contest.
Summer-breakers, what does gratitude mean to you? Does it bring to mind any special people or events? Is it something you feel often, or maybe something you struggle to feel? Is gratitude a force that inspires you, motivates you or just makes you think a bit?
The folks at ThankingOfYou.com want to hear from you kids and young adults through age 18. Gather your thoughts about gratitude and write them up into a poem of any style-it doesn't even have to rhyme. Post it as a Message of Thanks at ThankingOfYou.com or e-mail it directly to ThankingOfYou@verizon.net by August 30, 2010. Entries may also be submitted as a YouTube video embedded in/as your Message of Thanks.
Judges will choose one winner in each of these age categories: 8 and younger; 9-12; 13-15; and 16-18; winners will receive a $25 gift certificate to an American gift or retail store (to be announced). All eligible entries will be posted along with the winning entries at ThankingOfYou.com at contest's end because we want to showcase your thoughts and creativity!

The 2010 National Kids-in-Print Book Contest for Students
To encourage and celebrate the creative talents and skills of students, Landmark House, Ltd. is pleased to announce The 2010 National Kids-in-Print Book Contest for Students.
A qualified panel of judges, composed of professional editors, writers, illustrators, teachers, and librarians will judge the book entries on the merits of originality and the writing and illustrating skills displayed.
Landmark House, Ltd. will then publish the three winning students' books, one from each of the three age categories. The books will be printed and assembled according to the finest quality standards of book publishing.
What wonderful experiences await the three winners! When their books are selected for publication, they will be offered publishing contracts. They also will enjoy all-expense-paid trips to our offices in Kansas City, Kansas, where Landmark's professional staff will assist them in the editing, refining, and final production of their books.
