Nonhuman points of view turn up often in children's literature and in works of science fiction and fantasy. If a nonhuman character were to think, act, or talk in ways that are not human, readers wouldn't understand what they were doing or why.

Your job with this exercise is to create a POV character that is mostly human but has a few added nonhuman characteristics. Craft a dialogue between your nonhuman character and a human. Write it from the viewpoint of the nonhuman character, which means that all observations and thoughts should come only from the nonhuman character. Make sure your nonhuman character thinks and speaks in a style that is distinctively different from your human character. The scene doesn't really need to go anywhere or have a resolution. This is merely an exercise in creating distinctive voices.
