Hampton Roads Writers
Write the story of a journey in a hundred words from beginnning to end. You decide how many people are on the journey. With so few words, however, you'll have to pick out only the most relevant information. Is it really important to know that the person or people stop for a Big Mac? Maybe it is? Maybe it isn't? Perhaps the car breaks down? They run out of gas? They argue?
To keep your story at or under 100 words, you'll need to include only the most revealing details.
After you've written your 100-word story, put the events in a different order and see if this changes your story's plot and/or outcome.
