2018 Conference 10-Minute Agent Pitches

ATTENTION: Caitie Flum is unable to attend this year's conference. In her stead, Rebecca Scherer, from The Jane Rotrosen Agency, will listen to pitches and teach a couple of Caitie's breakout sessions.

The 10-minute elevator pitch provides you the chance to present the idea of your book the way you would if you were on a slow elevator ride with an agent or publisher. Your job is to learn how to pitch so compellingly that the agent or publisher tells you to send the entire manuscript for consideration of representation.

Conference attendees have the opportunity to sign up for three 10-minute pitch sessions FREE of charge. Slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to members of Hampton Roads Writers. Come prepared to pitch your project.

As of Sept 49, NO PITCH SLOTS LEFT FOR SALPETER, STENDER, or SCHERER and and only 4 LEFT FOR WOLFE

She represents commercial fiction across genres, with particular interest in women’s fiction, crime/mystery, suspense, book club fiction, and upmarket/literary-leaning fiction.

Rebecca is a lifelong New Yorker with an affinity for the German language, and on the rare occasion that she is not reading or crunching numbers, you might just find her zip lining through Ecuador or parasailing over the Mediterranean, plotting her next travel adventure.
